Project 365 Day 164

I made some early morning stops today before I started my work day to go see the paddlers check in at Jefferson City for the Missouri River 340, the river race that goes from Kansas City to St. Charles.  While I was there I actually got to see an old friend from Kansas City and some of her family members who were racing.....small world.   I had no idea the organization and support it takes just to help someone do the race, let alone doing the race yourself.   I'd love to start it sometime, but not sure I'd have what it takes to finish.  But it was a beautiful morning to be out and about and get some pictures of a really fun and unique event.

Project 365 Day 163

Our Wednesday night family game night tradition continued last night for the second week in a row.  This is a picture of a fun, quick, strategy card game called Love Letters.   Mike was allowed to win last night in both games but I still managed to have fun.  :)  Can't let my competitiveness get the best of me ALL the time.

Project 365 Day 162

Of course Sheldon HAS to play ball when it's 1000 degrees out.   At least we  ALL burned some energy.

Project 365 Day 159

It was sooooo hot Saturday.  We spent some time in the yard, but most of the day for the furry ones was spent snoozing.   Do you blame them?

Princess Izzy really likes to lay at Mike's feet....Mike has that effect on princesses.

Project 365 Day 158

Some cuties of our house guests and the spoiled rotten fur-kids who live here all the time.

Princess?  Who me?

When is their mom coming back?

Happy Gizmo!

Project 365 Day 157

We have two new furry guests for the next few days.  Their mom is one of my favorite people.  She is a princess and so are they.  I'm predicting this is not the last photos you'll see of these two sweet girls.

Project 365 Day 156

Last night Mike and I instituted the first of our new weekly Wednesday game night.  We bought some new games that can actually be played with just 2 people....of course we'd take more if you come over.  We had a lot of fun, but of course being the competitor I am, I made us play until I won.  That only took 3 times.

I think a lot of people think that people who don't have kids, or don't have a partner, aren't a family.  A family is made up of people who love and support each other, whether or not you live in the same place, are together by birth, by fur, or by choice.  I love my family.

Project 365 Day 154

I had to take a work trip to St. Charles on Monday and ended up staying to have dinner with a friend.  The sunset was particularly stunning that evening so I pulled over on a couple of exits to take some pictures.  Gorgeous.

Made it myself.   And it was delicious.

Project 365 Day 151

It was sooooo hot Friday.  So hot that I had to post a snapped picture of Sheldon and his habit on really hot days.  He likes to run inside, directly to the kitchen and sit his but on the air vent.  I am glad it's not raining all the time, but the 90 degree weather with 80% humidity is for the birds.  I'm ready for fall.  :)

Project 365 Day 152

We went to a soccer match on Saturday in Kansas City for Mike's birthday.  We had SOOOOOO much fun.  Thanks to some friends from college that regularly attend, we got some great suggestions on seats.  A friend of mine met us there and we sat in The Cauldron, which is an area of club supporters.   It's like sitting in the grown up version of the student section at a college football or basketball game.   If you don't mind a little language and a lot of fun, I highly recommend this section.

I have to say that the owners of the team who are also part of the Cerner company's leadership, have done an outstanding job with the team, the stadium and the overall fan experience.  One of the pictures below is one of the owners, who regularly stands in the fan areas with the fans to watch the game.  While the other team's goalie was warming up a ball came in to the stand and in the lap of a woman right in front of us.  The ball landed in her beer which then was ALL over her.  Well the owner saw this as he was standing down the row from us, proceeded to get $20 out of his wallet and pass it down to this woman to replace her beer.  That just dumbfounded me.  If only other professional sports team owners would feel the level of responsibility to the fans of the city that these guys do.

Even though it was my gift to Mike, I had just as much fun as he did.  We will definitely go again.  And for our friends, don't be surprised if we want to drag you along.  It will be worth your while.

Project 365 Day 150

We have really been trying to work with Sheldon to actually get him to DROP the ball when he brings it back to us.  Any of you who have met or played with Sheldon know, he LOOOOOOVES to play ball.  He loves to chase the ball, run after the ball, bring the ball back....however he is not a fan of dropping it.  We've made some progress this week.

Wednesday July 15th-   Bedtime antics

These two were crazy before bed.  They were endlessly wrestling around on the bed, cleaning each other's ears and just being buds.
