Project 365 Day 132

Went on a long hike with two of the dogs today but only had the phone with me, so not much photo worthy there.   But late this afternoon the clouds were so beautiful outside I just had to take some shots.

Project 365 Day 131

This one, we've been friends since she was born.  She has an infectious smile, is always up for an adventure and spreads her joy wherever she goes.  She is my cousin.  Hope this is the year I make it back down to GA for some beach time!

Project 365 Day 130 - #lovewins

In case you've been under a rock today, something really momentous happened.  Everyone I love can get married.  It's a big deal.

My first friend who is gay, Jose came out to me 21 years ago last month.  Ever since that day this issue has been important to me.  It's easy to hate, dismiss or belittle an issue that doesn't effect someone you know.  Now when Jose came out to me did I say "I'm going to be a champion of gay marriage"?   Well no.  I wish I had that kind of forethought.   What I did think was that Fred Phelps who was corrupting the town I lived in with hatred and idiocy, his kind of thinking would not be tolerated in my world.

You don't have to deeply believe in this cause, but you do have to follow the law of the land....and why wouldn't you?   Who do you know that you don't wish the desire for them to be married to the one they love?   Who doesn't deserve to have the same rights, protections, and more importantly the love that the rest of the straight world takes for granted.

I post this picture because I got to marry the person of my dreams.  He fundamentally changed the course of my life.  I would do anything in the world for him.  I want to love him, protect him, nurture him and take care of him.   If the person of my dreams was a woman, I would hope the people in my life would want the same thing for me.

So this post is for all my LGBTQ friends/family who have brought so much and taught me so much about friendship, humanity, heartache and love.  Love is love and love wins.

Project 365 Day 129

Apparently my pictures of clouds this morning were a fine predictor of the storms from tonight.  Eeeek!

Project 365 Day 128

Cute dogs.  That is all.

I feel like she's saying "are you for REAL woman"?

Project 365 Day 127

So I made dinner....those who know me well know this is an accomplishment.  I made a spinach lasagna and made sauce FROM SCRATCH.  This folks is legendary, so of course I had to have photographic evidence to commemorate the occasion.

Project 365 Day 126

Again I ran out of day.  That's okay. I love my bed, love the person I share it with, and the beagle too.  Sometimes it's all about perspective and how you see the world.

Project 365 Day 125

Today we went to Jefferson City to hang out with my Father-in-law for Father's Day.  On our way home I held Hubs captive so I could go take some pictures.  There is now a pedestrian bridge that goes over the Missouri River.  I hate heights and I hate bridges, but I did manage to walk out a little ways.   I noticed that this bridge has also decided to be the Pont Des Arts of the midwest  (you know the bridge in Paris where people put padlocks with their loves initials or names on them).  First I was irritated that people could think this was even remotely similar to Paris....but I put my cynical self aside and thought that if people want to express their love over a scary pedestrian bridge in the middle of Missouri....more power to you.   Love is love.  :)

Project 365 Day 124

After all the endless rain it was great to have a day of sunshine.  We got weeds pulled, weed eating done and trees trimmed all before 10am.  Then I made the mistake of mowing this afternoon.  Even on a riding mower it was crazy hot.  But it was a beautiful day of sunshine and I got some pictures of the beautiful clouds and sunset tonight.

Project 365 Day 123

Sheldon and mommy were so tired from this week, we almost forgot to take a picture today.  Goodnight world.

Project 365 Day 122

I ran a couple of errands at lunch today on my work at home day.  One was to the store where we pick up our weekly CSA box and the other to a local bakery to pick up some of Hubs favorite bread.  As most are aware I do not love the University athletic teams in this town, but I do love this town.  Don't tell the people in Columbia but it reminds me so much of Lawrence. I love college towns, because unlike a lot of other places one lives, college towns do a really good job of celebrating the uniqueness and diversity of the town and the people.

On the day after yet another senseless tragedy involving race and gun violence, instead of focusing on the anger and frustration, I will choose to focus on beauty and light.  It's not much, but today it is what I can do.
